管敬革作为一名女性艺术家，她不仅有女性的温情同样有山一般的厚重，不仅妙手绘丹青，而且诗词文章也颇有造诣，其诗词构思精致巧妙，语言凝练淳朴，意境高雅畅快，这都为她的画作在一定程度上增添了不少光彩，一个艺术家的内心推崇和坚持，必然与其审美，情趣和价值取向有关，而这一切又与其个性，阅历，思维方式以及情感表达方式不无关联。
从艺术史看，中国的冰雪画是一门极具艺术特色的绘画品种，冰雪之美，美在人对自然的主观感受，冰山雪水也不是现代创立的画派，在传统国画当中，以雪为主题的国画大致可以追溯到北宋时期。北宋北方山水的大画家范宽是画雪的高手。在范宽仅传世的几幅作品当中就有《雪景寒林图》《雪山潇寺图》两幅关于雪的鸿篇巨制。巨然也有《雪图》等著名作品。而且后世对雪景的传世作品源远流长，但却可惜没有形成独立的画派。古代的雪山，以留白烘托法为主要表现手法，从质感方面来看，当然还未登峰造极。至现代雪山学派画家于志学引入西方彩墨等艺术手法，雪景国画的质感才达到了新的高度。
而管敬革以其特有的人文意识和简练超脱的艺术手法，用写意的形式表现质朴稚拙之意境，融进了高妙脱俗的笔意和气韵，管敬革山水画的另一个重要特征是不追求一草一木，一山一石的具体位置经营、妙穷毫厘的质感模写，更重视整体的气韵生动，近乎一种写意山水画意境。这固色是自然之华，流动变化而生昳丽，目之所及，深情赴之，不可谓不动人。冰雪是北国的象征，是北国的魂魄，正是漫天的冰雪滋润着一代代冰雪画家的心灵，使他们从冰雪中获得启迪和灵感，向世人展示冰雪的神圣和魅力，管敬革虽然是后来者，可却是佼佼者中的一员，她师承著名冰山雪水派画家于志学，还是国画大师张大千再传弟子，大风堂传人。
